NPMC Names 2023 Mercy Award Winner
May 30, 2023
National Park Medical Center (NPMC) recently announced that Becky Norwood has been recognized as the facility’s 2023 Mercy Award winner. The Mercy Award recognizes one employee from each of Lifepoint Health’s facilities who profoundly touches the lives of others and best represents the spirit and values on which the company was founded.
The Mercy Award is the highest award an employee can receive. It is an annual recognition program that honors the life and contributions of Scott Mercy, Lifepoint’s founding chairman and chief executive officer.
“At NPMC we share Lifepoint’s commitment to making communities healthier, and we recognize this is supported by the good work and service of our employees on and off the job,” says Scott Smith, CEO of NPMC. “We are extremely proud to recognize Becky for her efforts on behalf of our patients and our community. She works with unwavering dedication in our Breast Center easing the minds of our patients and creating an environment where they feel safe, understood, and supported.”
Becky Norwood has been at NPMC for over 20 years, most recently serving as Patient Navigator-Breast Imaging at The Breast Center. In this role, she helps patients navigate through their breast care journey, providing resources and education as well as compassion and care.
“Becky takes personal accountability for the breast health of the women she serves,” says Casey Willis, NPMC COO. “We have a top-notch breast program and that is in part due to Becky’s work.”
Each facility winner, including Becky Norwood, will be considered for Lifepoint’s 2023 companywide Mercy Award. The companywide winner will be announced this summer and honored during a ceremony in Nashville, Tenn., in August.
“I’m so grateful for this award and love supporting the community of Hot Springs at The Beast Center,” says Becky Norwood. “Every woman should get a mammogram and encourage others to do the same. I’ve seen this process work every day. It saves lives and to be a part of that is truly something special.”
NPMC has been presenting this award since 2019, and all four previous Mercy Award winners are still serving the Hot Springs community at the hospital, as well as COO Casey Willis, who was named a Mercy Winner at another Lifepoint Hospital before arriving here.
