NPMC hosted Business After Hours with “Special Guests”
August 21, 2024
National Park Medical Center had a few “unusual” guests for the August Business After Hours. NPMC was the host for the Greater Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce’s monthly event and was able to display its surgical robots for guests to “network” with. The robots and representatives were available so the community could learn hands-on about new healthcare technology. Physicians who use the machines were also in attendance to show how they work and answer questions.
NPMC is home to several surgical robots, including the ROSA, da Vinci, and Aquablation robots, which are used for orthopedic, urological, and gastrointestinal surgeries, as well as other types of surgeries. Robotic surgery allows doctors to perform complex procedures with more precision, flexibility and control. This allows the operation to be less invasive and is often performed through a tiny incision.
Several providers were also able to demonstrate and explain surgical procedures in their specialty. Drs. Eric Bowen, Michael Hubbard, Renee Warford, Pittman Moore, Mandy Rice, and Nathan Littlejohn, spoke to the audience to explain the importance of what NPMC offers.
NPMC Chef Matthew Johnson provided a large display of hors d'oeuvres made specifical for the event. Johnson is a graduate of the College of Culinary Arts at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island.
