November 14, 2024
National Park Medical Center medical staff members Drs. Donald Ivy and Farrell Hass were recently selected as "Clinical Coordinators of the Year" for the Texas Wesleyan Graduate Program of Nurse Anesthesia.
“This award is an excellent reflection on the commitment that National Park Medical Center and our group, Ouachita Regional Anesthesia, have made in training doctoral Students in nurse anesthesia,” said Dr. Ivy.
Drs. Ivy and Hass said they were surprised and honored to be selected.
“We are humbled to have received this award, as the Texas Wesleyan program has approximately 350 residents that will train in 50 hospitals across the United States,” Ivy said. “National Park Medical Center has allowed and encouraged us to train the next generation of nurse anesthetists.”
He added that they train nurse residents in anesthesia from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, Arkansas State University as well as Texas Wesleyan University.
Dr. Ivy traveled to the college campus in Arlington, Texas, to receive the award on behalf of Dr. Hass and himself.
Residents initially receive one year of intense training in pharmacology, physiology, and anatomy. That is followed by two years in hospital operating room training, he said.
“The award is a reflection of the hard work and excellent training that the residents receive at our hospital from Dr. Hass and myself, as well as our excellent group of nurse anesthetists at Ouachita Regional Anesthesia,” Dr. Ivy said.
Dr. Ivy said the award is really a reflection and recognition of the group effort of a hospital, and their 17 Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists: BJ Easterling, CRNA; Stephanie Gotcher, CRNA; Jamie Humble, CRNA; PJ Morgan, CRNA; Dylan Rainwater, CRNA; Michael Warren, CRNA; Travis Warren, CRNA; Keith James, CRNA; Cody Hobby, CRNA; Jamal Kellum, CRNA; Angela Long, CRNA; Hannah Ware, CRNA; Chris Ivy, CRNA; Tony Plunkett, CRNA; Shelly Jarrett, CRNA; Jennifer Rader, CRNA; and Evan Leyba CRNA.
