National Park Medical Center’s Breast Center focuses directly on women’s needs and breast health concerns.
The Breast Center is designed to be a comprehensive facility dedicated to women and their breast health concerns. In one convenient location, women have access to a variety of breast health services, from screening & diagnosis to education and rehabilitation from breast cancer and breast related issues. Breast Center services include diagnostic and screening mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, core needle breast biopsy and ultrasound testing.
NPMC is proud to offer the very latest in digital breast imaging technology.
The Selenia™ digital mammography system from Hologic incorporates revolutionary imaging technology that provides incredibly sharp breast images. The images appear on the technologist’s monitor in a matter of seconds, there is no waiting for film to develop, which means less time in the breast imaging suite for patients. Selenia digital mammography offers a number of other practical advantages and patient conveniences. Because there is no waiting for film to be developed it significantly reduces the need for repeat exams due to under or over exposure. Digital images are easily stored and transferred electronically, eliminating the dependency on one set of original films, which can be misfiled or lost in transit.
Stereotactic Breast Biopsy
NPMC also offers Hologic’s Multicare Platinum Prone Stereotactic Breast Biopsy System. This advanced breast biopsy table offers the latest advancements in stereotactic technology for more precise characterization of calcifications, masses and architectural distortions.
The Breast Center is staffed by registered mammographers who provide personalized patient care supported by some of the latest technology for breast healthcare.
NPMC is a certified Pink Ribbon Facility, a distinction awarded only to an elite group of healthcare facilities in the nation. The American Cancer Society suggests that one out of every eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. But when detected early, five-year breast cancer survival rates have reached 98%. By offering women digital mammograms, the NPMC hopes to increase the number of area women who follow recommendations for regular screenings and increase the percentage of breast cancer survivors.
