captureNational Park Medical Center will open their 67,000 square foot expansion project to the public beginning Friday, October 28, with an open house for the public from 9 – 11:00 am.  Area residents are invited to tour the new facility which features a 25-bed emergency department and the new state of the art stand-alone Heart and Vascular Center of Central Arkansas.

“We are incredibly proud to bring this important addition to the Hot Springs area and surrounding communities,” said Jerry Mabry, president of the RCCH Arkansas market.  “We are committed to expanding healthcare services to the areas that we serve, and by expanding our emergency department and adding a standalone Heart and Vascular Center, we are increasing access and efficiency to healthcare in our areas.”

The expansion features an expanded emergency department which will ultimately be twice the size of the existing emergency department.  It features 25 state of the art rooms and equipment including specialized trauma rooms, secure patient rooms, and multi-function exam rooms.  The new emergency department is located adjacent to the existing emergency facility at NPMC, which will be renovated into additional patient care areas, a family waiting room and a patient triage station.  The design of the facility and the support systems are all pointed toward rapid response and personalized care.

The upper level of the expansion space the new, state of the art, Heart and Vascular Center of Central Arkansas.  It features space for four cardiac catheterization labs, a 12-bed pre and post cath procedure area, an 8-bed cardiovascular intensive care unit and a physical therapy and cardiac rehabilitation center.  This new center is the only integrated heart center in the region, combining Outpatient, Inpatient and critical care in one heart center.  It is the largest, most comprehensive freestanding cardiac facility in the region, housing more cath labs than any other heart center in the area.  “We are also home to the premier cardiac group in the region in my view.  Hot Springs Cardiology Associates perform more cardiac and peripheral interventions than any other group in the region,” said Mabry.

The open house on October 28 will also include a ribbon cutting with the Hot Springs Village area Chamber of Commerce at 9:00 am, and a ribbon cutting with the Greater Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce at 10:30.

“We encourage area residents to come out and tour the facility.  It’s a very exciting time for healthcare in Hot Springs and we want to show our residents the investment that we have made in our community. We have always been committed to increasing access to healthcare right here in Hot Springs,” said Mabry.  “This is our home, and we believe excellent quality care should be available right here, without traveling or being shipped to Little Rock or anywhere else.”

The expansion project began in November 2014 with a groundbreaking.  The investment thus far has been more than $25 million, and additional investments are planned for the renovation of existing hospital space.
