National Park Medical Center received three awards at the Arkansas Hospital Association annual convention last month. The hospital was awarded an Inpatient Quality Incentive (IQI) for quality care, Diamond Award for advertising, and the NPMC Auxiliary was recognized as a 5-star auxiliary.
The Arkansas Medicaid and Arkansas Foundation for Medical Care awarded the annual IQI award as a ceremony Oct. 8 at the Statehouse Convention Center. NPMC was one of 24 Arkansas hospitals for the 2015 IQI program. The Arkansas Hospital Association, Arkansas Medicaid and AFMC worked together to develop the IQI program, which began in 2007 and has earned national attention for its innovative involvement with the health care community. The program reflects a growing movement toward rewarding hospitals for commitment to quality and providing evidence-based care to their patients.
This year, IQI recognized hospitals that showed improvement in obstetrics and tobacco use screening and treatment. Arkansas hospitals are now screening 99 percent of admitted patients for tobacco use. A majority of the patients identified as tobacco users were offered or provided counseling as well as medications to help them quit.
Hospitals were required to meet specific goals for at least 80 percent of eligible measures, including sending blood samples of newborns to the Arkansas Department of Health for screening and offering treatment for tobacco use. Hospitals must also pass validation of their reporting to qualify. The IQI advisory board, AFMC and Arkansas Medicaid selected the measures.
NPMC was also awarded a Diamond Award in the category of Total Campaign for their “Only Here. Here for Me” advertising campaign. The “Only Here. Here For Me.” Campaign was a multi-media advertising campaign aimed primarily at showing a strong community presence as a leader in healthcare services, by highlighting NPMC’s physicians, patient testimonials, and exclusive services and specialists available only at NPMC in the Hot Springs community.
The “Only Here.” Message was aimed at highlighting some of the physicians, specialists, technology and service lines that are only available at National Park Medical Center in the Hot Springs area. The “Here For Me.” Message was aimed at connecting the “Here” message into the testimonial campaigns – both for print and for television—and to show how NPMC’s physicians and services have been important in the lives of people in the community. Judging for the award was based on goals and objectives, audience to whom the campaign was directed, reasons for choosing the format, frequency and quantity, portions that were created internall/externaly, results/evaluation and total budget. NPMC worked with EXIT marketing on the campaign, and NPMC’s director of communication and marketing, Mandy Golleher, accepted the award at the Awards Dinner on October 8.
The NPMC Auxiliary We received the Five Star Award of Excellence during the Arkansas Hospital Auxiliary Association’s Awards Dinner also on October 8. The Five Star Award of Excellence is the highest award possible to a local auxiliary, and is based on the activities the hospital participates in within the hospital, the community and the AHAA. NPMC Auxiliary President, Sylvia Griffin, accepted the award.
